Lawn Turfs and Playgrounds

The use of artificial grass is increasing in popularity for both residential and commercial applications. This lawn surface material is perfectly suited for a wide variety of applications ranging from lawn areas, to dog runs, to playgrounds, to decorative commercial settings. Our synthetic turf has come a long way since the original Astro Turf days. Today it looks amazingly like a natural rye grass surface and has significant benefits making it better than natural grass for many uses. A few of these benefits include:

• It is much friendlier to the environment by saving water, chemicals and pollution due to lawn care equipment
• The surface can be made firm or soft depending on how the area will be used; in fact, for playground and play areas the surface can be designed to meet US fall zone standards up to 13 ft
• It is perfect for high shade, high traffic and small spaces where natural grass simply will not perform.
• The lawn surface looks consistent and perfect all year.
• The synthetic turf does not attract insects and reduces grass allergies.
• This surface improves drainage because of the gravel base and underground drainage network we install with the turf system.
• It turns many spaces into more inviting, safer and more useful areas that look fantastic year round.

Green Links has designed and installed many lawn turf installations across the area. The installations typically include drainage networks under the turf and a graded gravel base to provide long term stability. The synthetic turf fibers are 1 ½ inches to 2 inches deep depending on the turf style selected. These long fibers are filled to within about ¾ inch of the top with a layered infill application of flake rubber and sand. This infill ratio is adjusted depending on how the turf surface will be used to make it softer or more firm; we can also add a cushioned pad below the turf surface to comply with different fall zone requirements for playground applications.
